Feeling B was a punk band in the old German Democratic Republic. The band was active from 1983 to around 1994.

Information

The band was formed in 1983 by Aljoscha Rompe (vocals), Alexander Kriening (Drums), Otto Leimer (bass) and Paul Landers (guitar) as "Feeling Berlin". Drummer Kriening knew Flake, who was just 16 years old at the time, from a concert he played at his brother's school, and when bassist Otto Leimer quit the band he invited Lorenz, who just got an electric organ. At the end of 1983, the band already had an "Einstufung", which was needed in the German Democratic Republic to play concerts legally. Writer Lutz Seiler used early Feeling B concerts in northern German Democratic Republic as a basis for his book "Kruso" (2014). In 1987, the band was the main focus of the movie flüstern&SCHREIEN. Christoph Schneider joined the band in 1990, although he was only seen as a guest drummer by his bandmates. In January 1990, they released Hea Hoa Hoa Hea Hea Hoa, the first official punk album of the German Democratic Republic. After the wall came down, Aljoscha founded the record label Pirate Music Production, on which the two subsequent albums Wir kriegen euch alle and Die Maske des roten Todes got released. After Die Maske des roten Todes, Schneider left the band to form Rammstein. Paul and Flake made new songs, and Aljoscha was traveling around the world. This pretty much marked the end of the band, and the last concert was performed on 20 May 1994. In 1997, Aljoscha formed the band "Feeling B-neu" ("Feeling B-new") with a new lineup of musicians.

In November 1999, Christoph Zimmermann died a tragic death during a plane crash.^[1] In 2000, Aljoscha Rompe sadly died, too.

Live

When the band started playing with Arte Cantores in 1992 they used a lot of show effects, like pyrotechnics and smoke machines, which probably influenced Rammstein's concerts a lot. They also made films that got played before concerts to introduce the band, which showed the story from the Die Maske des roten Todes booklet. There were plans to expand the story with a play starring members of Bolschewistische Kurkapelle schwarz-rot , which would've been performed during concerts, but the band broke up before that could happen.
