Information
The compilation was compiled by Flake. He first wanted to release a compilation with their best tracks, but after listening to old tapes he decided on releasing a bunch of old, unreleased songs.[1] The songs were digitalised and remastered by Mark Bihler. He got the analogue 24-track tapes from Flake and put them in the oven at 60°C for three days to make the glue liquid and the tapes listenable again.[2] After digitalising the songs he found that the sound was not really great, because the songs were recorded the same way someone would record a classical concert. His assistant called the sound "Stasipunk". So he digitalised every track separately, which got him nearly 24 tracks per song. Then he remastered every track on its own.[3]
The songs Graf Zahl, Dufte, Frosch im Brunnen, Keine Zeit and Wieder keine Zeit were recorded in 1989 during the session for Hea Hoa Hoa Hea Hea Hoa. Langeweile, Herzschrittmacher and Hässlich were recorded in 1992, only by Paul and Flake. It is possible that these songs were recordings for the unreleased fourth Feeling B album. And the song Grün & Blau was recorded in 1983.[4]
Versions
There are two commercial releases and one promotional release of the compilation: a standard jewel case edition and a special 160-page book edition. The promotional CD came in a simple cardsleeve.[5]
On 11 May 2023, FHM Records released a limited edition vinyl of the compilation, which was available in three different colors: black, limited to 300 copies, green, and blue, both limited to 100 copies each. The vinyl does not include all the songs from the CD version but adds four previously unreleased songs, three of which are demos. All songs have been remastered by Patrick W. Engel.
Misprint
The sticker on the book version of the album says that two songs were unreleased before. But actually, seven of those songs never appeared on any official release before. And Graf Zahl was only released on a rare tape of an early version of Hea Hoa Hoa Hea Hea Hoa, called Wir wollen immer artig sein.
