Rammstein is band from Germany, founded in 1994. Since then the band has sold over 10,000,000 albums worldwide and is Germanys most successful music export ever.

Rammstein was founded in Berlin, back in 1994. Founding members were Richard Kruspe (lead guitar) and Christoph Schneider (drums). All other members joined the band later. Also in 1994 the band started working with their long-time manager Emanuel Fialik, but they split in 2010. Since the begining als albums are produced by Jacob Hellner.
Name
The name Rammstein comes from an air base, located in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. On 28.08.1988 an air show was held, during which three planes crashed into each other. One of those planes crashed burning into a pit of visitors. The accident killed around 70 and injured around 1,000 people. Rammstein took their name from that accident. The band wrote it with two M, because they thought it was written like that. Even many news shows on TV wrote it wrong. The first version of the name was "Rammstein-Flugschau".
During the finding of a bandname, there was also the suggestion for "Stamping Prayer".
