Key Pankonin is the ex-singer and guitarist for Die Firma and Ichfunktion. He began military service for the Nationale Volksarmee in 1986, prompting Paul Landers to join as a background vocalist and a guitarist. After returning from his service in 1987, he was disturbed by the heavily critical and anti-militaristic image that the band had formed in his absence, and consequently left the band. However, he continued to perform in concerts with them until their dissolution.
Pankonin also wrote texts, such as In die Raghandi (song) by The Inchtabokatables and RGM (song).
He performed vocals and guitar with Christian Lorenz on the 2025 Flake feiert wieder Weihnachten (album) album, for the song Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht (song).
