Le jardin des larmes is a song by Zaz featuring Till Lindemann. It is the point five track on the Isa album.
Background
- During press interviews in 2018 for her then new album "Effet Mirroir", Zaz said, that she recorded a duet with Till Lindemann. The French website Le Parisien reported:[1]
Et Zaz confie avoir enregistré récemment un duo «fou» avec… Till Lindemann, le chanteur du groupe métal Rammstein. «Lors d'un concert en Allemagne, sa maquilleuse m'avait dit qu'il aimait bien mes chansons, raconte Zaz. Effectivement, lors du dernier concert de Rammstein à Paris, il m'a invité avec mon pianiste dans sa loge. C'était surréaliste de le voir danser sur Je veux.»
And Zaz confides that she recently recorded a "crazy" duet with... Till Lindemann, the singer of the metal band Rammstein. During a concert in Germany, his make-up artist told me that he liked my songs," says Zaz. Indeed, during the last Rammstein concert in Paris, he invited me and my pianist into his dressing room. It was surreal to see him dance to Je veux."
- The song was found in the GEMA database on 17 May 2021 with Till being mentioned as an author of the lyrics.
- On 4 October 2021 Zaz was invited at Swiss TV station RTS, telling how Till absolutely wanted to record a French duet with her as a waltz, for which he eventually wrote the entire text by himself. A music video was shot in Uzbekistan.[2]
- 3 years prior to its release, Till wrote the lyrics in German while Zaz's pianist Thierry Faure composed the melody and together with his wife translated Till's lyrics to French.[3] It was later recorded at Studio La Fabrique in France, where Rammstein also recorded two albums.[4]
