Heimat Kassetten's 'logo'.

Heimat Kassetten was a small entity in Dresden which released the music of various artists from the German Democratic Republic on cassette tapes between the 80s and 90s. This pseudo-label released very limited runs of cassette tapes, typically limited to 10 copies each; these tapes were then given out to "family and friends"[1]. It is presumed (but not guaranteed) that the owner of the Heimat Kassetten 'company' was a friend of the members of Feeling B / Die Firma / Happy Straps (three bands which once shared Rammstein members during their activity) as tapes such as Atlantis Demos contained exclusive studio material which would otherwise have been difficult, if not, impossible to obtain without such connections.

History

It is not 100% known when Heimat Kassetten began producing tapes, nor when this production ended, or even who was responsible for creating them. The first cassette released by Heimat Kassetten was "V.A. Meine Heimat Der Osten Vol.1" which included a song from Die Firma. This tape was created in the mid to late 80s, marking the beginning of Heimat Kassetten as an entity.
