Pledge of Allegiance Tour

From RammWiki

Information

The Pledge of Allegiance Tour was a row of concerts in 2001. It was headlined by Slipknot and System of a Down. Rammstein supported the headliners, alongside American Head Charge, Mudvayne and No One. The band Mudvayne was meant to be present for the entire duration of the tour, but left after the performance on 30 September due to undisclosed "personal reasons". No One was scheduled to leave the tour and be replaced by American Head Charge, but decided to stay for the duration while American Head Charge took Mudvayne's spot.[1]

Originally, the tour was meant to start on 14 September, but this date was postponed, alongside others, due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Concerts scheduled for 14, 15, 18 and 19 September were moved to October, with the planned show on 16 September getting cancelled without any replacement. Towards the end of the tour, Paul left the United States in order to go back home to Germany. A medical emergency in his family led to his departure. Because of this, Rammstein played with only 5 members on 23 October, and had Daron Malakian from System of a Down fill in his spot on 24 October.

While more concerts were planned, Rammstein dropped out of the tour soon after. The official reason was because of Paul's departure, but in reality, their reason for leaving was more complicated. The band later said that their departure from the tour was caused by exhaustion from non-stop touring, which lead to disagreements between Paul and Richard. This, combined with the bad atmosphere in the United States due to the terrorist attacks, lead to Flake leaving the country without alerting tour operators.[2]

On 26 March 2002, a live CD of the tour was released, titled Pledge of Allegiance Tour: Live Concert Recording. The recordings are from the show on 9 October. Rammstein was reported to be included with Links 2-3-4 and Ich will, but were eventually omitted due to unknown reasons.[3]
