The Persistence of Memory tracklist | |
Always On My Mind is the second song off the album The Persistence of Memory by Emigrate.
Information
- This song is a cover of the ballad written by Mark James, Wayne Thompson & John Christopher Jr.. It is famously known for its cover versions by Elvis, the Pet Shop Boys and Willie Nelson.[1]
- This song features Till Lindemann.
- Ten years prior, Richard was asked by the label to contribute to a cover album. He chose this song as it was apparently the only one that was left.[2] The cover album eventually got canceled, but he kept the song since he had already done a lot of work on it. Richard, being impressed by Elvis' one-take vocal delivery, also planned to use the said vocal take and release that version of the song on the album Silent So Long.[3] But due to copyright reasons, Richard was not allowed to use Elvis' vocals. Richard began to think who also had a powerful voice like Elvis. His first thought was about doing the song with Iggy Pop. The idea of recording the song with Till came very late.[4].[5]
- The drums on this song were played by Mikko Sirén.
