Promotion

The single had multiple different promotional CDs from around the world. Germany had a cardsleeve with an alternate artwork and a promotional sheet with it. Germany additionally got a promotional VHS with the music video on it. The US got a 2-track promotional CD with a special radio edit and the single edit (which is called Album Version on the tracklist), while Australasia got two different promotional singles: standard single with all tracks, plus a 1-track single which also includes the radio edit and came without a cover, a black CD and a black inlay.

The German promotional sheets presented the following text:

German original

Oh Gott - schon wieder eine neue Rammstein Single?????? NEIN!

English Deepl translation

Oh God - another new Rammstein single?????? NO! Rather, "Stripped" is a cover version of the 1986 Depeche Mode hit recorded exclusively for the tribute compilation "For The Masses". The original comes from the album "Black Celebration", landed at number 2 in the German charts in 1986 and stayed in the hit list for a total of 33 weeks. The idea for the tribute album came from the US label 1500 Records and was realized with the support of Depeche Mode himself. 1500 Records is tied to A&M, where the album is also released worldwide at the same time as the single. It happened around the end of last year that the organizers approached Rammstein and asked them to be the ONLY German band to contribute a cover version to this album. This happened just at the time when the Rammstein hype started in the USA and nobody even dreamed that the album "Sehnsucht" would actually enter the regular US Billboard charts. Rammstein, as self-confessed Depeche Mode admirers, felt flattered and gave up their vacation to record "Stripped". The result is a great cover version, which not only ended up on the album "For the Masses" and puts Rammstein in the company of Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, Veruca Salt, Apollo For Forty or Monster Magnet - no - because everyone at 1500 Records and A&M thought that this version is a huge hit, "Stripped" was chosen as the first EUROPA single.
Enclosed you get a promotion copy with the singlecut of "Stripped". On the final CD-Maxi you will also find remixes by Charlie Clouser (Mastermind "Nine Inch Nails") KMFDM and Tiamat, as well as a CD-Rom track with a Rammstein concert recording.
Apart from the fact that the REINHÖREN is actually worthwhile and "Stripped" shows a completely new facet of Rammstein, this single is promoted in all marketing measures for "For the Masses". Besides a huge ad campaign in Wom Journal, Saturn Aktuell, AMM Magazin, Visions, Hammer, Breakout, Zillo etc.pp., a fan mailout to all Depeche Mode & Rammstein fans, the campaign also includes a large-scale billboarding in all underground and suburban train stations. The video for "Stripped" will be shot in early July and will probably start rotating on MTV & VIVA at the end of July. As the first English-language Rammstein song, the track already enjoys cult status in the club!!!!! - And it's definitely suitable for radio.
But see for yourself.
