Recording took place on 22 and August 23 August 1998. Later that year, Motor Music invited 200 fans to a choir singing session in Berlin. This all to create the best possible crowd for Live aus Berlin's post-production. For two days, from 24 to October 26 October fans give their best under the direction of producer Jacob Hellner.
Before the CD player starts playing the first song Spiel mit mir, you can rewind it about 60 seconds. These are 60 seconds more of the crowd cheering.
The album came in three different formats: CD, 2 CD and MC. The standard CD includes 15 songs. The special version came with two CDs and included 18 songs and three CD ROM tracks. The 2 CD version also came as a limited edition for German store WOM ("World of Music"). It had all six autographs embossed on the cover (there is also a Mexican version like this). The MC includes the standard 15 songs album.
The standard album is missing the songs Herzeleid, Klavier and Tier.

Live aus Berlin is the first commercial live video by Rammstein. It was released on VHS on 14 September 1999 and the DVD version on 29 November 1999.
Recording took place on 22 and 23 August 1998. Later that year, Motor Music invited 200 fans to a choir singing session in Berlin. This all to create the best possible crowd for Live aus Berlin's post-production. For two days, from 24 to October 26 October fans give their best under the direction of producer Jacob Hellner.
The quiz contains 140 questions with three possible answers. You can access the quiz by putting the DVD into your PC and open it. After finishing the first level you get the instructions on how to play the hidden music video for Stripped. The prize of the second level was an exclusive Rammstein wallpaper to download off Rammstein's homepage, which isn't hosted anymore.
There is one known hidden easter egg on the DVD. You either get the code for it by completing all three levels in the computer quiz, or by just typing number 23 on your remote in the main menu. That will unlock the promotional video for Stripped.
The DVD features a 5.1 surround mix, in which the center channel only features keyboard, drums, bass and vocals.
The concert is available in different formats: CD, censored VHS (excluding Bück dich, FSK16), uncensored VHS (including Bück dich, FSK18) and as a censored DVD. An uncensored DVD (including Bück dich, FSK16) was released on 27 March 2020.
On 27 March 2020 the DVD had a reissue, which differed only slightly in terms of artwork. The booklet shows a photo similiar to the cover of the Asche zu Asche single on the front, and the credits in the middle of the booklet are rearranged. The concert on the DVD is now including the performance of Bück dich, which was previously only available on the uncensored VHS. But the DVD is missing the Fancontest, and therefore the prize for each of both levels, being the music video for Stripped and the Rammstein Screensaver respectively.
Also the new DVD issue has a small misprint: it spells "Angels" on the back, instead of "Angles".
The VHS and DVD releases were promoted with newsletters (actual letters), sent to fanclub members back then. The release of the VHS and the DVD each got a separate newsletter.
