Und das alles mit einer ziemlich eigenwilligen Kombination aus Tanz- und Metalmusik gepaart mit düsterer deutscher Lyrik, vorgetragen durch Till Lindemanns unvergleichlichen Sprechgesang. Kaum eine andere deutsche Band steht zur Zeit so sehr für eine eigene, unverkennbare Stilistik, wie Rammstein es tut. Und dennoch verneigen sich die sechs Musiker mit ihrer neuen Single vor einer anderen Band, deren Schaffen für die deutsche Musikkultur bis heute als unumstrittener Meilenstein in der elektronischen Musik gilt: KRAFTWERK.
„Das Modell“ gehört schon seit längerer Zeit zum Liverepertoire von RAMMSTEIN. Und sicherlich haben sich RAMMSTEIN in punkto hypnotische Gradlinigkeit der Beats einige Inspiration bei Kraftwerk geholt. Auch bei der Wirkung nach außen, sind Rammstein nach Kraftwerk wohl die Meister des plakativen Imagings.
Aber da hat es sich auch schon mit den Gemeinsamkeiten. Für einige wird „Das Modell“ von Rammstein ein Sakrileg sein, für andere ein interessanter Verweis darauf wie Musik entsteht, wo sie herkommt und wie sie sich entwickelt - und damit interessant und aufregend. Was allerdings wirklich zählt, ist, daß „Das Modell“ immer noch ein verdammt gutes Stück ist, das nichts an Aktualität eingebüßt hat und nun erstmals von einer modernen Metalband gecovert wird.
„Das Modell“ befindet sich wie der zweite Titel dieser CD-Maxi „Kokain“ nicht auf dem aktuellen Rammstein-Album „Sehnsucht“. Sondern ist ein Dank an alle Fans, die auf die Veröffentlichung beider Titel lange genug gewartet haben. Die reguläre Veröffentlichung (21.11.97) dieser CD-Maxi enthält neben den beiden neuen Tracks „Das Modell“ und „Kokain“ zudem eine bis dato unveröffentliche Version von „Der Alte Mann“ und ein RAMMSTEIN-PC-Game, welches sich derzeit noch in der Programmierung befindet.
Eine nette Geste, daß RAMMSTEIN jetzt nicht mit einer dritten Auskopplung aus dem Album nerven, sondern exklusives Material zur Verfügung stellen.
„Das Modell“ ist ein Muß für alle RAMMSTEIN-Fans. Und ein neuer Rammstein-Hit, der die Diskussion um diese außergewöhnliche Band weiter forcieren wird.

- The original release of the single has a white print on a white CD. The one featured in the Original Single Kollektion has a grey print on the white CD.

Promotion
A promotional 2-track CD was released in Germany, with a silver cover artwork. It's missing the song Alter Mann (Special Version). The single came with two DIN A4-sheets, which included the following text:

‘Das Modell’ has been part of RAMMSTEIN's live repertoire for some time now. And RAMMSTEIN certainly drew some inspiration from Kraftwerk in terms of the hypnotic straightforwardness of the beats. Rammstein are probably the masters of striking imagery after Kraftwerk when it comes to the effect on the outside world.
But that's where the similarities end. For some, ‘Das Modell’ by Rammstein will be a sacrilege, for others an interesting reference to how music is created, where it comes from and how it develops - and therefore interesting and exciting. What really counts, however, is that ‘Das Modell’ is still a damn good song that has lost none of its topicality and is now being covered by a modern metal band for the first time.
Like the second track on this CD maxi ‘Kokain’, ‘Das Modell’ is not on the current Rammstein album ‘Sehnsucht’. Instead, it is a thank you to all the fans who have waited long enough for the release of both tracks. In addition to the two new tracks ‘Das Modell’ and ‘Kokain’, the regular release (21.11.97) of this CD-Maxi also contains a previously unreleased version of ‘Der Alte Mann’ and a RAMMSTEIN PC game, which is currently still being programmed.
It's a nice gesture that RAMMSTEIN are not annoying us with a third single from the album, but are making exclusive material available instead.
‘Das Modell’ is a must for all RAMMSTEIN fans. And a new Rammstein hit that will further intensify the discussion about this extraordinary band.
