Mutter is the fourth single off the album Mutter by Rammstein. It was released on 25 March 2002.

Information

• An early news entry on Herzeleid.com showed the original cover with a different colour and a slightly different tracklist for the single. The cover, like all previous singles, had a green colour, and the tracklist included the Zend Avesta Mix of the song. For the final release the cover colour has been changed to orange and the Zend Avesta Mix has been omitted.

Mutter is pure Rammstein, only much better. This applies both to the title track, which now finally gets the attention it deserves. The song Mutter shows Rammstein once again in top form. A great heavy, dragging rock tune, which just by the rather slowed tempo, the uncompromising instrumentation and the insistent, almost threatening vocal line gives the accusatory lyrics the necessary emphasis: Die Tränen greiser Kinderschar / ich zieh sie auf ein weißes Haar / werf in die Luft die nasse Kette / und wünsch mir, dass ich eine Mutter hätte...
A great ballad with goosebumps guarantee and for many fans the song of the album. But Rammstein wouldn't be Rammstein if they didn't have a special treat in store for their ever-growing fan base: on top of that, there's a particularly club-ready vocoder version and a remix by the successful Hamburg tech-house trio Sono that can conquer the lounges of the world.
