Orchestra album
Since 2001 the band had the idea of recording an orchestra album. That's all known from interviews. Up to now, nothing official was released anywhere; and no band member has even mentioned the orchestra project since. In 2012 a MIDI Orchestra demo of Asche zu Asche circulated among fans, but it is not known if it is directly related to this project.
Johnny Cash cover
In a 2001 interview, Flake was asked if they would do another cover song for the then-new album Mutter. He replied by saying "We wanted to cover a song by Johnny Cash, but unfortunately another German band did the same track before us. We gave up our plans, because we did not want it to seem like if we were trying to copy the other guys. We'd better wait a little bit until our next cover version. I don't know which one it's going to be." It is unknown which Johnny Cash track they wanted to cover and also which German band covered it before them.[9] It's possible that Flake talked about Ring Of Fire by the H-Blocks.
Los single and video
According to Paul, there were plans to release a single for the song Los.[10] The single was supposed to feature the rock version of the song. Even plans for a video were made. One of the ideas was including a "Trabi" (car from the German Democratic Republic). The video was never realised, although the rock version appeared on XXI in 2015.
Olaf Heine book
In February 2021 a listing for a book by Olaf Heine, called Rammstein, was found on Amazon and different other retailers. It had a given release date of 12 October 2021. The book was to be published by Prestel. The full article description for the book was as follows:
As massive and spectacular as the band itself, this celebration of all things Rammstein features the impeccable work of German photographer Olaf Heine.
Arguably the most exciting live musical act in the world, Rammstein has been playing together for more than 25 years-and Olaf Heine has been photographing them every step of the way. This massive and gorgeously produced celebration of the band features exquisite, mostly unseen images from every aspect of their decades-long history. There are, of course, dozens of concert shots featuring fireballs and fire-consuming costumes in enormous arenas packed to the gills with ramped-up fans. But Heine also ventures beyond the stage with individual portraits of the band, stripped of stage makeup and machinery; domestic scenes from their native Germany, and intimate glimpses inside the recording studio. One of the world's most sought-after photographers, Olaf Heine also creates masterful still-lifes and landscapes that give context and contour to the band's hard-living image. Fans will pore over close-ups of the complexly constructed costumes, outre stage props, and other artifacts that can't be appreciated from the stadium floor. Rounding out the volume are texts from the band members themselves. The book that millions of fans have been waiting for, this love letter delivers-in true Rammstein fashion-all they could want, and more.
Other details given were 364 pages, 400 photos in total (300 in colour, 100 in black and white), English language, the ISBN-10 number 3791387731 and a price of around 70 €. But in May 2021 different retailers sent out an e-mail to customers that ordered the book, to announce the cancellation of the book. The e-mail said, that Olaf Heine and the band management had artistic differences, which led to the book being cancelled. It had never been officially announced.
