Herzeleid Tour
The song had slightly different lyrics, as well as a slightly different structure during 1994 performances. The 1995 and 1996 performances were identical. The song was now shorter, but still retained the same buildup intro as the 1994 performances. The 1995 and 1996 variation of the intro was slightly shorter. On at least one occasion in 1996, the burning cage stunt previously seen accompanying late 1994 performances of Tier, wherein Flake sat in a metal cage draped with a piece of fabric which is later set on fire, was used during Herzeleid's performance. Till would instead make use of arm gestures after every word he sung. After the line "Denn wenn euch auch viele Jahre vereinen", Till would scream the word "Einst". He would also scream the last two of the six times he says "Herzeleid". Flake would add one keyboard tap to the synth break after Till's screams.
Sehnsucht Tour
From September to October 1997, the song would be performed after Spiel mit mir and Till would continue wearing the stage outfit for that song during Herzeleid, albeit without the usual laser goggles. Till also no longer screams during the performance. The "Einst" scream was replaced with Till saying the word normally followed by an echoing synth, and the "Herzeleid" screams would use playback.
In August 1998, the song was performed three times in the usual 1997 way, with the Spiel mit mir outfit and playback screams. The only difference being that Flake would add multiple keyboards taps during the break, rather than just one. On one occasion, on 9 August 1998, the song was performed with the normal stage clothes. Also, Flake did one tap for the break again.
