Reise, Reise tracklist | |
Los is the fifth song on the album Reise, Reise by Rammstein.
Background
- Similar to Du hast and Haifisch, the band plays with the word "los". In this case, it can be translated to "go" or "[some word]-less".
- Besides the acoustic album version, the band also recorded a rock version of the song. It was supposed to be released on a single, but this never happened. The band played the outro of the song as the rock version during concerts. It was released in 2015 on XXI.
- The harmonica solo was done by Till. There was a dispute in the band about using the harmonica, Oliver thought it sucked, but Paul fought so hard for it that it was included on the record.[1]
- This song has existed since the recording sessions for Mutter. During the recording sessions in Malaga in 2003, producer Jacob Hellner arranged recording the song again which the band didn't want to, eventually - upon Richard's idea, the band played the song unplugged and everyone liked it.
- According to Flake, the song is a very blunt Rammstein riff where they took away the riff. The original sounded almost like Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen?[2]
- The acoustic version was made in Stockholm as some of the band members wanted to bring back something from the past. While sitting in the back room of the studio, the guitar was passed around between Paul, Oliver, Flake, and Schneider who tried to make a spin on a melody by Ennio Morricone. «Schneider used to be a blues guitarist and started playing the riff and was the winner. I would never have thought back then that it would take on a life of its own. There was no doubt in my mind that this song shouldn't be on the record. Maybe as a hidden track at the end», said Till to Break Out. He thought the original was much better because of its chorus.[2]
